While Katz's Deli in NYC is the most famous Jewish restaurant in NYC, if not the most famous Jewish restaurant in the world, another place that is also world famous, yet not quite on Katz's level, is Russ & Daughters. Russ & Daughters is not a deli, so unlike Katz's it does not specialize in pastrami and corned beef. However, Russ and Daughters is an appetizing store, meaning it specializes in fish, particularly fish that goes on top of bagels. We tried some of the most famous items, such as the Russ & Daughters bagels and lox, particularly the Russ & Daughters belly lox. We also tried to smoked sturgeon as well, as well as a potato latke. Since they are down the street from one another, it is natural to compare Katz's Deli vs Russ & Daughters. However, one sells fish and the other sells meat, and the two are more so complementary, since in kosher law mixing fish and meat is forbidden. Is Russ & Daughters worth the hype? We'll find out!
