this new NYC restaurant Umeko has a nostalgic touch of Japan paired with a modern feel Umeko is opening Friday, 1/16 - the latest @umehospitality restaurant by the teams of @ume.williamsburg and @sekaiomakase! Their $48 prix-fixe menu centers around the philosophy of “doing, less better” with just 2 choices for theirs dons - a chirashi don that changes with the season, as well as a single fish don that rotates (currently tuna). Each set comes with sides like akami zuke, season soup & pickles, nori sheets and a selection of seasonings 🙌 The a la carte appetizers at Umeko go hand in hand with their dons, evolving with the season while including flavors inspired from around the world. Meanwhile their selection of maki rolls are quite literally overflowing with fish from the top 😋 Some of my favorites were their tuna don, shima aji appetizer and the negitoro & spicy salmon makis!
