It's biggest claim to fame though is for being referenced in Seinfeld. The Seinfeld Mendy's episode I say more so referenced Mendy's, rather than portrayed it, as it was portrayed as a fine dining sit-down restaurant rather than a takeout Jewish deli. Still, Mendy's is far from just a Seinfeld restaurant. It's actually one of the top delis in NYC in my opinion! We tried a few items from Mendy's, such as brisket on rye, pastrami on rye, and of course, the Mendy's soup. It's all about that soup right? As Jerry claimed a soup is not a meal, so I needed to see for myself if soup is a meal at Mendy's. This restaurant may be mentioned primarily alongside Seinfeld, but I do believe it is one of the best Jewish delis in Manhattan, if not one of the best Jewish delis in New York in general, and I can't wait to bring you all along!
